Child care at the KIT
The KIT offers its employees a large number of child care possibilities. These include four employee children’s day care centers: the ”nanos!“, “Räuberkiste“ (Robber’s Chest), “Schloss-Geister“ (Ghosts Haunting Castles), and the ”KinderUniversum“ (Children’s Universe) day care centers, the last of which was opened in September 2013. In this way, the KIT staff can use a total of 215 children’s day care places for children between 3 months and school entry age.
The KIT also offers emergency care to help in cases of temporary need for child care.
"KinderUniversum" This children’s day care center was opened in September 2013 and offers another 115 places to children of KIT employees. Of these, 60 are day nursery places for infants between the ages of three months and three years, and 40 are kindergarten places for children between the age of 3 and school entry age.
"nanos!" at Campus North At the present time, this children’s day care center offers 50 places to children aged 0 – 6 years in the form of three day nursery groups and one kindergarten group.
"Schloss-Geister" The five day nursery places for infants and the five kindergarten places are available primarily to newly appointed professors of special research areas and junior group leaders.
"Räuberkiste" at Campus South Since September 2010, KIT employees can make use of a total of 30 places in a day nursery for infants and 20 kindergarten places at the "Räuberkiste" children’s day care center.
